Personal Wealth Education

The authors of AQPQ are engaged in a series of continuing activities that are designed to improve levels of knowledge regarding personal wealth management among accounting and finance students, layperson investors, and professional investment advisors who are certified public accountants.

We have, for instance, performed the final technical quality review on the Connecticut Society of CPA’s revised education materials entitled Me, Myself, My Money. These materials support the CSCPA’s initiative to enhance the financial literacy of Connecticut high school students. In addition to delivering presentations at the high school level, we have also made customized presentations for inner city community centers, and for the Department of Children and Families of the State of Connecticut.

In addition, we are collaborating with John Bailey, the founder and publisher of MarketHealth 401k, on a risk management case study for graduate business students and a social networking discussion blog service for undergraduate business students. For these audiences, we have also written a budget planning tool entitled Nuturing The Nest Egg, a tool that has been published by the CSCPA and Pension Governance LLC (now FiduciaryX).

Furthermore, we have authored a pair of articles about Monte Carlo simulation modeling techniques during periods of relative calm and volatility for the CPA Journal, the flagship publication of the New York State Society of CPAs. The articles are available in the free public archives of the CPA Journal; they were originally published in their Personal Financial Planning specialty theme issues in September 2007 and September 2009. A substantial amount of technical information for these articles was provided by Michael Christie and Gregory Coghlan of Christie/Coghlan Investment Management LLC in Stamford, CT.
